Dr. Mary E. Bumgarner resides in Wharton, Texas.  She enjoys serving with her husband, Michael Bumgarner, at Peace Tabernacle where they have pastored for the past 8 years.  At the church, Mary is Ladies' Ministries director and Children's Ministry coordinator and is a part of the music team.  She currently serves as Ladies president for the Central Coastal Bend section of the South Texas District UPCI.  

Dr. Bumgarner is an associate at Exceptional Eye Care in Wharton where she routinely treats eye infections and glaucoma, performs diabetic eye examinations, co-manages cataract surgery, and prescribes glasses and contact lenses.  Prior to moving to Wharton, she owned and practiced at Family Eye Care Clinic in Lumberton, Texas.

An optometrist for 17 years, Mary has a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Lamar University.  She is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board as a  glaucoma specialist.  Prior to optometry, Mary taught high school biology and has a secondary composite science certification.  

Mary was raised in an Apostolic home where her parents, W.R. and Patricia Strahan, were active in bus ministry and teaching Bible studies.  She credits them with birthing her love for children's ministry and her love for service. 

When not at the office or church, Mary enjoys spending time with here husband and children playing Monopoly, inspecting LEGO creations, and eating gourmet desserts baked in an Easy-Bake oven.
